The move bars contracts known as noncompetes, which prevent workers from leaving for a competitor for a certain amount of time, in most circumstances. The agency has said the proposal would raise wages by forcing companies to compete harder for talent. The proposal was approved by the agency in a 3-to-2 vote. She estimated the decision would lead to 8,500 new start-ups created in a year.

CNN —A Russian missile strike killed and injured more than 70 people in the city of Chernihiv in northern Ukraine – an attack that could have been prevented if Ukraine was provided with better air defenses, President Volodomyr Zelensky said. At least 14 people were killed in the strike and 61 others were injured, including two children, Ukraine’s emergency services said. Russia’s strike comes after Zelensky has for months warned that Ukraine lacks the air defenses necessary to protect its skies. “This would not have happened if Ukraine had received a sufficient number of air defense systems and if the world’s determination to counter Russian terror had been sufficient,” Zelensky said. (Reuters) - First National Bank of Pennsylvania was sued on Monday by the U.S. Department of Justice and the state of North Carolina, which accused it of lending discrimination known as redlining in the Charlotte and Winston-Salem, North Carolina markets. Redlining occurs when lenders deny or discourage mortgage applications and loans in neighborhoods based on the race, color, or national origin of people who live there. The Pittsburgh-based bank's redlining allegedly included locating and maintaining nearly all branch locations and mortgage loan officers outside these neighborhoods, and relying on majority-white areas for referrals and loan applications. The lawsuit seeks restitution to victims, a civil fine, an injunction against further redlining and other remedies. They were transported to Britain and bought by the British Museum in 1816, and are exhibited as a prized part of its collection in London. The sculptures at the British Museum make up about half of a 160-metre frieze which adorned the Parthenon temple on the rocky Acropolis hill in Athens. The trustees have said they would consider a loan to Greece if Greece acknowledges the British Museum's ownership of the sculptures, which Greek governments have refused in the past.
